A simple three part setting of this well-known Christmas Carol. The English translation is by George Ratcliffe Woodward (1848-1934). In addition to the three part setting, there are also to two part settings, which optionally can be sung alternatingly.
The metrum change is meant in such a way that the length of half a bar remains the same. In other words: The munsural symbol "3" means that one half note comprises three quarter notes, and "2" means that it comprises two quarter notes. As the beat (half note) remains unchaged, this means that the quarter notes in teh second part are slower by a factor 2/3.
