The roxal banners (Vexilla regis) (Chorale setting)

The original text of this hymn for the passiontide stems from antiquity. As it is very well known, there are many translations into different languages. Apart from its use during passiontide, it can also be sung during the adoration of the cross on Good Friday.

The melody used for this setting is based on the medieval chant. The multi part setting can be sung alternating with stanzas sung to the monophone Gregorian chant. To make the piece most useful, I have prepared editions both for three and four parts and in different languages.
