This is a collection of six duets having a cantus firmus in the lower part that is taken from the 16th century Genevan psalter. The upper part is closely related to the cantus firmus through polyphonic imitation. For most ricercars from this volume, I had written before a vocal version that is also freely available from this website.
Even though the vocal versions also work very well as written on two recorders, a purely instrumental realization creates additional opportunities for the upper part. Moreover, I have added some diminutions to the versions in the present selection, which can serve as a model for a tasteful performance of the other psalms that are missing in this selection.
